How to Make My Hair Look Longer

Few things are as coveted as long hair. Unfortunately, many have trouble achieving their hair length goals. Even when your hair is growing at a normal rate, the process can be incredibly slow. Thankfully, you can fake it till you make it! In this article, we'll share a few tricks you can use at home to make your hair look longer.

Stretch or Straighten Your Hair

One of the best ways to make your hair look longer is to stretch or straighten it. When deciding which method to choose, it really depends on your hair type. If you have naturally straight or wavy hair (hair types 1 and 2), then a blowout or flat iron will give you the desired results. However, if your hair is curly (hair types 3 and 4) and you're looking for more length, then stretching with braids or twists is the way to go.

Try a Middle Part

If you ever thought about trying a middle part, right now is the time to do it! A middle part can create the illusion of length. And it just so happens that middle parts are incredibly flattering and easy to do. Just part your hair in the center from the front to your crown with a comb. You can also use a rat-tail comb for more precise styling.

Do a Double Ponytail

Do you have mid-length hair? If so, a double ponytail can take you into long-hair territory. To get the look, pull half of your hair up into a ponytail (just below the crown of your head) and then pull the bottom half into a ponytail directly under your first ponytail. The result will be an instant volume and length boost.

Try a Half-Up Half-Down Style

A half-up half-down style puts the focus on the length of the bottom portion of your hair. To achieve it, simply separate the top half of your hair, pull it into a ponytail with a scrunchie or clip, and leave the bottom half down. Since you want to ensure your hair looks as long as possible, don't add any curls to the bottom layer.

Wear Wigs or Extensions

If all else fails, you can always turn to wigs or extensions. Wigs are great because they come in a variety of lengths and colors, so you can easily find one that works for your look. Simply throw one on and live your best Rapunzel life.

Traditional extensions (tape-ins, wefts, weaves, microlinks, etc.) will require more maintenance, as you'll need to have them re-installed every so often. But more modern extension types, like halo extensions and clip-ins, are a lot easier to manage. You may want to try several types to determine which is best for you.

No matter what style or technique you choose, these tricks will help you fake long hair until you reach your desired length. We hope that this article has given you all the information you were looking for to achieve your long-hair dreams!
